Summer Term 2022

Welcome to the Summer Term in our Year 1 classroom. We hope that you had a lovely Christmas break!

We are really looking forward to diving into our topics on

The Weather (Geography)

The Seaside (English and History famous person - Grace Darling).

We have some super work planned for them all. There will be plenty of play based learning alongside more structured teaching sessions.

Science: In Science the children will be looking at all things plants! Focusing on identifying plants using keys, looking at the different parts of plants and their role in keeping the plant alive.

Home Learning

This term we would like you to focus on:

-reading at home regularly (ideally daily, but x3 sessions a week as a minimum)

- learning weekly spelling lists for a quiz on a Friday

-playing phase 5 phonics games practically and online (see letter sent home for ideas)

Outdoor Woodland Learning

We will try and get up to the woodland area whenever we can. We will always let you know via text when your child will need to be wearing their kit. An all-in-one waterproof (or waterproof trousers)  really are a good investment! We will also have some scheduled sessions with Rachel Wild and Mrs.Main, our outdoor learning specialists.

PE: The children will need to wear their PE kits to school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Look out on the Friday Flyer each week, as there may be some extra slots added.

Year 1 will enter school through the main entrance in the mornings, and be dismissed from the classroom door onto the playground the end of the day.

If someone other than yourself is collecting your child, a note must be in their diary. We will not release them until you have been contacted.

As always if you have any queries or need to talk to us, feel free to drop a note in the diary or just grab us at the gate.
