Behaviour Policy

At St Mary's, we believe that positive relationships, rooted in respect, are the most important element of our behaviour management procedures. We employ the strategy of 'first attention for best conduct', where children are given praise for doing the right thing. We give children the tools they need, through explicit behaviour teaching, to manage their own emotions and regulate through the use of restorative practice.

We have designed a code of conduct to be applied consistently throughout the school which supports children to:

- Demonstrate our Christian vision and values

- Maximise their academic potential by taking responsibility for their behaviour for learning

- Develop self-discipline, self-regulation and self-respect

- Learn consideration, respect and empathy for other people and their particular needs

We follow three behaviour expectations that all children in school know:

1) Ready

2) Respectful

3) Responsible

These expectations are reminders for children that encourage them to take responsibility for their own behaviour and actions.

All staff follow the Behaviour Blueprint, a document within the policy that supports the steps needed to manage behaviour in a consistent way so that all children receive the right amount of support for them.

For further information, please refer to the behaviour policy at the top of the page and in the policies section of the website.
