Year 4 paint St Ives, Cornwall

Following Year 4’s visit to the    Birmingham Art Gallery, Miss Whyton & Mrs Chapman decided that the class deserved an afternoon of being artists. Miss Whyton brought in her picture of St Ives by the artist James Stewart. The picture is a bird’s eye view of St Ives and hides lots of characters such as a teenage mutant ninja turtle, batman, a giant, witches around a cauldron and a lot more! Year 4 looked at the picture for over an hour and a half, spotting all the different characters. They then went on to design their own bird’s eye view seaside towns, inspired by James Stewart.
After a successful afternoon using our painting crayons, Miss Whyton decided to e-mail James Stewart with the classes work. He was so impressed with the quality of the work and has put the pictures up in his studio to inspire him in the future. Year 4 hope that you enjoy their art work as much as we do!
