Mrs Mann teaches KS1 about Vaisakhi
Kiranpreet’s Mum was very kind today when she came to teach the KS1 children all about the Sikh Baisakhi festival also known as the Vaisakhi Harvest festival. It celebrates the annual harvest festival in the Punjab that ushers in the Sikh New Year. People share kind sentiments with each other during the festival. Here is an example:
Hope this harvest season brings never-ending joy and prosperity to you and your family. Wishing you a very happy and prosperous Baisakhi!
Children learnt about how traditional clothing is worn in bright colours like orange and blue (to represent the soldiers of the Khalsa or brotherhood of Saints who wore blue uniforms) and the sorts of delicious foods they celebrate their festival with. Mmm! Children even got to taste samosas!
Thank you very much for sharing with us Mrs Mann.
